    Lyon Fine Arts Museum

    From Egypt to Art deco.

A real "museum of civillisation", the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon will take you from ancient Egypt to Art Deco through Islamic art.

On the first floor, sixteen rooms take visitors on a journey through ancient civilisations: Egypt, Sumer, Cyprus, Greece and the Roman Empire. Seventeen rooms then take you through precious arts and medieval and Renaissance sculpture, from Byzantine ivory to a rich collection of Limoges enamel and goldsmith art.

A section on Islamic art and a rare collection of Japanese stoneware used during tea ceremonies precede the rooms dedicated to Art Nouveau and the Art Deco era.
