For the nave of the Grand Palais, architect Henri Deglane conceived the largest glasshouse in Europe. An ultimate example of the craze of the late 19 century for glass exhibition halls, the nave was classified a historical monument in 1975. In 2001, an extensive renovation project began to restore to the nave to its former glory, requiring 1,300 tonnes of steel and 14 000m ² of glass panels. Through the archives of the Ripolin society, the metal frame of the Nave was also returned to its original color: the pale "reseda" green.
Since its reopening in 2005, the Nave of the Grand Palais has hosted many prestigious events: exhibitions, concerts, parties, fashion shows and so on, remaining an important venue in the heart of Paris.
