Notre-Dame Cathedral in Strasbourg is a stunning sight. Majestic in scope, with ample proportions, the cathedral keeps watch over the city. The spire, pointing 124 metres skywards, is a beacon, a charming landmark for all who visit the city.
Some of the edifice's more notable features, which inspired many a poet, are the Gothic nave, the astronomical clock dating back to the Renaissance and the lavishly sculpted doorways.
It’s a long way up the 332 steps leading to the panoramic platform. However, as you climb, keep in mind the words of Victor Hugo: "From so high up the landscape is no longer a landscape, it becomes a map... a living, breathing geographical map… I would walk from one tower to the other and see France, Switzerland and Germany bathed in a single ray of sunlight".
