    The Sorbonne University in Paris

The Sorbonne – a learned history.

The Sorbonne is a university which is highly respected in Paris and famous all around the world.
The very name "La Sorbonne" evokes learning and cultural intelligence in its highest form. It also owes its name to its founder Robert de Sorbon who was confessor to the King of France, St. Louis.
The Sorbonne helps students to integrate themselves into the professional world and organises several events to prepare for competitions for civil service.
It was rebuilt between 1626 and 1642 as requested by Cardinal Richelieu, then between 1885 and 1900 by Nénot. The chapel is all that is left of the original Sorbonne, built by Lemercier between 1635 and 1642. On the inside you can find the cardinal's tomb, designed by Girardon.
