Vignobles & Découvertes: Vallée du Loir

The Vignobles & Découvertes label aims to provide quality services and visits catering to wine tourism. The label appeals to a customer base that appreciates the world of wine without necessarily being connoisseurs, and offers a range of quality services: accommodation, cultural sites, leisure activities, cellar tours, restaurants, exploration of natural spaces, events and more.

Eight destinations in the Loire Valley have been awarded the label: Val de Loire, Amboise - Val de Loire, Chenonceau - Vallée du Loir - Chinon, Bourgueil, Azay - Saumur, Val de Loire - Vallée du Layon - Muscadet Loire Océan - Angers Loire Valley.

    Destination: Vallée du Loir

The “Vallée du Loir” destination is described through poetry - and can be explored by following in the footsteps of the poet Pierre de Ronsard. The area also boasts beautiful parks and gardens, vineyards and forests, lakes, plus festivals and amusement parks.

The Loir River, more discreet and intimate than its big sister the Loire, flows through a valley illuminated by the whiteness and clarity of freestone.

Cave dwellings and wine cellars are highly developed in this region, as is wine production, including top names Jasnières, Coteaux-du-Loir and
Coteaux-du-Vendômois AOCs. The Châteaux in the Loire Valley are real architectural masterpieces to explore.

Vallée du Loir has 10 cellars open to the public, 17 accommodations choices, and a range of 13 restaurants serving traditional cuisine. Visitors are welcomed by the tourist offices of Pays de Vendôme, Montoire-sur-le-Loir and Loir et Bercé.

Visitors will be able to discover heritage sites such as Camuta, the Maison de l’Homme and its forest, or the Val-Saint-André mushroom cellar. Visitors can also enjoy a number of activities linked to wine, along with events that highlight the region and its savoir-faire.
